Whittards of Chelsea required Digipress to print a multitude of items for their autumn/winter Halloween promotional campaign.

CHALLENGE

Whittards of Chelsea launched a new, limited addition peanut butter hot chocolate drink, for the Halloween season. They needed a complete promotional package for all of their stores across England, including two in-store installations.

Whittards of Chelsea, founded by Walter Whittard in 1886, is committed to bringing the best blends of the finest tea, coffee and cocoa to its customers. Whittards had chosen a specific design for their autumn/winter campaign: a quirky Aztec skull design, with the eye-catching orange and fuchsia colouring which was the perfect combination to achieve a hauntingly creative look. After the Digipress art-working team had finished tweaking the images, they were handed over to the printing team.

SOLUTION

Using some special metallic boards, the Digipress printing team were able to create spectacular double sided POS boards with the Aztec skull design on. These would be used as part of the window display alongside the two types of window vinyls. They were reversed printed onto static self-cling vinyl, enabling them to be fixed to the window from the inside, whilst still being able to view them correctly and clearly through the glass.

For the A5 handouts and the A3 posters, the Digipress technicians printed them onto 350gsm silk paper for an excellent finish. With separate images needed for both sides of the items, we used our SwissQ Nyala, a high-performance printing machine. Our Digipress technicians then used the Zund, a cutting machine that has uncompromising performance when it comes to getting the highest precision cut quality, to die cut them to shape.

Result

The vivid colour printing, combined with the brilliantly ghostly artwork choice resulted in the finished items looking scarily great. The impact of the artwork choice and its promotional power was evident in Digipress, with multiple members of staff purchasing the new hot chocolate flavour. The two in-store installations went seamlessly, with the end results creating the perfect promotional spectacle for Whittards’ customers.
